The Birds of Autumn - November 2015

Art sessions in early November focused on the “birds of autumn" - and there are many birds that play a part of this gorgeous season.

Amy brought in books and beautiful photos, all of which provided inspiration to Artisan resident artists. Creativity brought forth turkeys, ducks, quail, pheasants, geese, owls, and these wonderful birds were created in a variety of ways.

This was a difficult subject matter for some of the artists, but everyone still seemed drawn to the birds and everyone wanted to give it a try!  That is what we love to see!  One resident worked hard drawing a wonderful quail; when she was repeatedly complimented on her work she replied, “Well, I used to do this kind of thing a lot. People would ask me to.”

Another resident painted a whimsical quail with lots of color - this determined artist worked all on her own. Yet another painted a mallard and was quite pleased with the results. Resident Artist Amy worked closely with a resident on a fabulous goose. She, too, was pleased with the results despite her limitations on the process.

The books provided entertaining information for the artists, as Amy read passages and select pieces which elicited oohs and aahs and much laughter.
