Resident artists think of warmer memories and spring scenes! - March 2019

Winter in Wisconsin has just continued (and continued!) over the course of the months, and yet again weather forecasts call for more snow, ice and cold on the way.  So it is a perfect time in art sessions to focus on warmer settings.

Thoughts of Valentine's - February 2019

Valentine's Day is a big deal at Artisan! It's a holiday made for creating wonderful artwork (there is a never-ending array of themes and styles to try!) and there are of course so many wonderful memories of the holiday that our residents share at the art sessions.

Chinese New Year - and themes of Winter - January 2019

The Chinese New Year is a popular theme with our Artisan residents!  Wintry weather continues to be in full bloom in Wisconsin, and along with Artisan Resident Artist, Amy, residents continued to explore the season at the beginning of the year. In addition, the Chinese New Year was rapidly approaching so for a fun twist and lifetime learning the theme of the holiday was added to the art focus.

The Magic of Christmas-time at Artisan! December 2018

It is one of the favorite times of year for Artisan residents - Christmas time and the holidays!  It has been a month-long Christmas exploration, and Artisan resident artist Amy provided many forms of inspiration - images of Christmas flowers, decoration, landscapes, and religious themes were just some of what kept the conversation and creativity flowing.  There were also many other images that brought forth the fun - such as the Grinch and Rudolph, and S

So much to be thankful for - November 2018

As might be expected, much of the focus of conversation during art sessions, and the prevailing theme of the artwork itself, has been Thanksgiving during the month of November. And in addition, Artisan resident artist Amy introduced the idea of autumn birds into the mix as well - bird that include turkeys, ducks, pheasants, geese, owls, and quail. What gorgeous animals, and what wonderful inspiration for our residents!

Halloween - and lots of autumn-themed artwork - is the highlight of October 2018!

It's one of our residents' favorite times of year.....Halloween!  What wonderful memories this holiday offers. We got into the full spirit of the season in recent art sessions with Halloween images, mostly of various jack-o-lanterns in different settings. The images provoke conversations about carving pumpkins long ago and Halloween memories of trick-or-treating - such as, “We’d go out until very late and come back with a big sackful of candy!”

The start of autumn - apple picking and fall colors galore! September 2018

As summer comes to an end and the season officially changes, the Artisan residents artists - and Amy! - look forward to beginning to explore the many lovely things about autumn.

A theme of summer bugs and flowers - August 2018

Yes, there are many MANY themes that come to mind at the mention of summertime in Wisconsin, but the theme and idea of bugs was very prevalent in many of the month's art sessions. This is something that Resident Artist Amy kept a feel of - what was on the minds of residents, and what would they have fun depicting in their artwork?  The idea of bugs (mainly butterflies!) and flowers (of course with gorgeous blooms) are simply favorites of our artists.

Summer in Wisconsin - the blossoms continue! July 2018

Summer life in Wisconsin is wonderful!  There is so much to see and do. Whether traveling to visit different towns and cities around Wisconsin (or the Midwest), visiting the lakes, farms, zoos, and many gardens across the land are memories of our Artisan residents.  Amy encouraged the sharing of these memories and this spilled over to some amazing artwork from our resident artists.

The blossoms, landscapes, and colors of summer - June 2018

June is here and the flower of June is the rose, but at Artisan.....we find that so many of our residents love ALL flowers, and we all agree these different types of flowers together all make our world a more beautiful place!  Much of Artisan Resident Artist Amy's encouragement did focus on the rose itself, but she also engaged the residents in discussion about what other flowers are blooming right now in our world.  And there was myriad inspirat
