Resident Art Program

An important part of select Artisan communities is the engaging and stimulating art sessions for Artisan residents, led by our Artist-in-Residence. At art sessions, not only is amazing artwork created and confidence gained, but stories are told and memories are shared.

Spreading the Joy and excitement of art to first-timers - February 2017

Art is and incredibly joyous part of life, and one of the most wonderful things about art is that it is welcoming to the newbie, the expert, or to the artist who has put aside tools for a while, only to pick them up again after a long hiatus. Artists of all ages and abilities are welcome (and encouraged!) to participate in art sessions at Artisan communities, and to create whatever their heart desires!

Colorful flowers and birds to brighten up the winter - January 2017

January can be a very cold, dreary, and long month - so what better way to beat any "January blues" that might strike with some gorgeous and inspired artwork? Artisan Artist in Residence Amy grew up in St. Louis, and shared stories about the botanical garden there and its annual orchid show which is held this time of year. The focus of Artisan residents turned to bright, colorful flowers - with a nod to favorites from the spring and summer months.

Winter wonderlands, snowy landscapes, holidays! December 2016

It's that wonderful time of the year at Artisan, when the excitement for the holiday season is in the air, and it is the season for giving, sharing, and CREATING wonderful artwork! The gorgeous creations shine through as our residents think back over their lives and remember holidays they have shared with family and loved ones.

Thanksgiving - a time for blessings and beautiful artwork - November 2016

Art sessions throughout much of November at Artisan are all about Thanksgiving - with a bit of autumn landscapes thrown into the mix. Artisan Artisan in Residence Amy brought many wonderful items to help residents recall memories of Thanksgiving from years ago - pictures of the first Thanksgiving, plus photos of turkeys, Thanksgiving greetings, cornucopias, gourds, pumpkins, and Indian corn served as great inspiration.

The beauty of fall in Wisconsin - October 2016

It's a favorite time of year for many residents - the autumn season that showcases the gorgous change of colors for the season. There were so many different things used for inspiration during art sessions with Artisan's artist in residence Amy - photographs, picture books, large autumn leaves, pictures of birds that many of us see this time of year, and the amazing memories of these hard-working artists from many years ago.
